Deeni WagnerMay, 2009What brought you to the realization that you are a healer?
I have always been interested in health and nutrition. My sister asked me if she could practice Therapeutic Touch on me once she completed the course. How I felt after the session, motivated me to take the courses as well. During the course of Level 1, I mentioned to a woman, in my class that I had worked with, that there was a strong concentration of energy around her reproductive area. Her eyes opened wide, she said that no one else in the class sensed this and that she had had a miscarriage when she was younger. This is when I realized that I might have a gift and decided to pursue further in various energy work. Actually, just recently while in Peru, a well respected shaman told me that Mother Earth would like for me to know that my life career calling is to be an Intuitive Healing Facilitator. This confirmed what I already knew in my heart, that I was afraid to follow for quite some years.
What obstacles have you found in considering yourself a success in this field?
Establishing a client base. I’m wondering if my sub-conscious beliefs about money may also be a factor. I’m looking into removing these blockages. I must admit, that for quite some time, I was very low on the scale of believing in myself. I’ve taken some self-development courses and seminars, as well as a spiritual healing/self-development trip to Peru, which has helped me extremely in self belief and confidence. It’s been quite an awakening journey!
What schooling or training have you completed?
I completed Therapeutic Touch levels 1 & 2 through Conestoga College. I completed Reiki Level 1 through Academy of Holistic Modalities. I received my Reflexology Certification through Reflexology Training Ontario that is offered through Conestoga College’s Complimentary Care Program.
Does networking with others assist you in achieving your goals?
I’ve really only TRULY just started practicing recently. Networking is something I’ll address at a later time. I truly believe in it. I’ve seen and met very successful practitioners that use networking all the time.
Is there advice you would offer to someone starting on this path?
Follow the passion that is in your heart. Use your barometer, not someone else’s. Look to other practitioners for assistance if you feel you need it. We are quite supportive of one another!
What type of advertising has worked best for you? What has been your best resource for building a client base?
Calling people who helped me in my case studies and talking to former co-workers, friends, and family. Referrals or “word of mouth” is extremely powerful. I’m still in the process of contacting people that have given me their information.
Where do you see yourself in a year? 5 years? Do you have any particular goals that you would like to achieve in the near future?
Within the next year I see myself still evolving and becoming more known within the community. Actually, I’d really like to get together with other holistic practitioners and discuss putting together some informational seminars for companies and the general public. What I’ve been observing is that many people are unaware of the various healing modalities and their purpose. Any practitioners open to awakening those people searching for the information we can provide them?
I am currently looking into furthering my education in Holistic Nutrition and Spiritual Psychology. Within the next 5 years I plan on expanding my knowledge in the holistic fields, for the overall wellness of those whom seek it. Other modalities I’m interested in are Axiatonal Alignment, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, completing all levels of Therapeutic Touch as well as Reiki Master. Becoming a certified teacher in Reflexology is quite high on my goal list!
